ගැඩවිලුන් ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් ආහාරයට ගනී. වර්ෂාවත් සමග පොළව මතුපිටට පැමිණෙනු දැකිය හැක. සිංහරාජ , කන්නෙලිය, රූණකන්ද හා බෙරලිය වැනි පහත රට තෙත් වනාන්තර ආශ්‍රිතව හමු වේ. මේ වන විට රතු දත්ත සටහනේ  දැඩි ලෙස වඳ වීමේ අවදානමට ලක් වූ සර්ප විශේෂයක් (Critically Endangered) ලෙස නම්කොට ඇත.
